This rare antique Chinese carved wood statue depicts Shancai (Sudhana), the youth disciple who stands as an attendant to the Bodhisattva Guanyin.

The standing figure features exceptional raised gilt lacquer scrollwork detailing across his gold robes, set against a classic red lacquered base.

Beautifully aged with an authentic rich patina, minor gilt loss, and weathered character lines, this piece is an extraordinary example of historic Chinese folk religious art.
