David Hlongwane Original Acrylic Painting (1999)

David Hlongwane (South African, 1963-) is a leading contemporary artist known for his vivid depictions of rural life and exploration of South Africa's socio-political landscape. Born in Zwelethemba in 1963, Hlongwane overcame personal tragedy and unjust imprisonment during apartheid. In 1984, he founded the Community Arts Project, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to social change. He currently teaches art to incarcerated youth, using his experiences to inspire others. This original acrylic on board, created in 1999, measures 14" x 10". The painting is in good pre-owned condition with some wear from storage.
