This unbelievable engraving print is a signed artist's proof in a frame measuring 26" W x 22" H. The bottom left corner features an embossed A/P logo and the artist's signature is on the lower right. It is so detailed, it almost looks like a historic photograph! This piece depicts Ypres Town Hall, aka Cloth Hall, in Ypres, Belgium. It captures the intricate details and exquisite craftsmanship of this early 19th-century gem, offering a glimpse into the city's history and European significance. The majestic façade, adorned with architectural marvels of Dutch design, serves as a testament to Europe's cultural heritage. Hugill was a printer, painter and teacher who studied at the Royal Collage of Art under Gerald Moria and Frank Short from 1908-14. He exhibited twelve times at the Royal Academy. From 1921 - 1930 he was Headmaster of the Victoria School of Art in Southport and Curator of the Atkinson Art Gallery. From 1930 to 1951 he was principal of the Liverpool College of Art. He was president of the Liverpool Academy between 1942 and 1947 and again from 1950 to 1957. Henry Percy Huggill (1887-1957), member of the Royal Cambrian Academy in 1943. The RCA was formed in 1881 and constituted in 1882 by Queen Victoria, and is a unique institution in Wales - an independent charity supporting Welsh art and artists, where art is encouraged, made, exhibited and debated.
