Vintage Imperial Glass Amberina Water Goblet

Hoffman House ruby red water goblet, produced by the Imperial Glass Company.

Visual Features & Color: Deep crimson/ruby red body that transitions into a striking amber or fiery orange hue along the rim and stem base under standard conditions.

Fluorescent Composition: This two-toned coloration is typical of Amberina glass. It gets its signature fiery yellow-orange glow under a blacklight from cadmium sulfide added to the glass batch during production.

The "Strike" Effect: The way the color shifts and glows unevenly is due to a technique called "striking". When the glass is reheated, the areas exposed to more intense heat change to ruby red, while the less-heated areas retain their yellowish-orange color and fluoresce much more vividly under UV light.
